İsmail Ozan Demirel graduated from the Civil Engineering Department of Middle East Technical University (METU), where he also completed his Master’s and Ph.D. degrees. Between 2007 and 2017, he worked as a research assistant, and later served as a part-time lecturer at Bilkent University’s Department of Architecture and Hacettepe University’s Department of Civil Engineering.
He also worked as an individual consultant for the Seismic Strengthening Department of the General Directorate of Construction Affairs under the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change.
With experience in both academic and applied engineering fields, he specializes in the seismic behavior, damage assessment, strengthening methods, and performance evaluation of reinforced concrete and masonry structures. He also contributes to the preservation and restoration of cultural heritage buildings and has multiple publications and peer reviews in international journals and conferences.
